Wow, how time flies! Amabella is already 9 months old. We went to the doctor for her check up yesterday and she’s right at the 50th percentile for everything. She weighs 18lbs. 8.6oz. (That may sound light to some of you, but it feels like a ton to me.). She is 27 1/4 inches long/tall.

She has her two bottom, front teeth, which are very sharp! She makes lots of facial expressions. Her faces are what most people comment on. She was making silly noises with her lips, which has mostly been short-lived. I’m glad because then she’ll be less tempted to do it while eating. Currently, she loves to squint her eyes, especially when she’s feeling like complaining or whineing about something.

She loves to crawl all over as well as pull herself up to stand at every opportunity. She has just started pulling things off the top of our coffee table, so we’re finding everything is now stacked in the very middle of the table, out of reach for now.

She understands “no” very well. She often listens too. I was amazed to realize that already she really understands when she’s not supposed to do something. She’ll look right at me and do something she knows she’s not allowed to do and just wait to see how I’ll respond. She shakes her head “no” often and sometimes she’ll shake it “yes.”

She’s been saying “mama” for quite some time and might say “dada.” she definitely babbles ALL the time. It’s great fun unless we’re somewhere where she needs to be quiet. Most people don’t mind, however.

She loves books: being read to and looking at them on her own. She still loves straws and any kind of recycling I’ll let her play with.

Ama loves food. She’s been eating stage 2 & 3 foods and some non-baby food fruit. We were given the go ahead yesterday to let her eat whatever we are eating, except nuts, honey, and whole milk. If she can gum it, and won’t choke, she can have it. Yeah! So, we’ll hold off on the desserts, but we already started on dinner food last night. She got some mashed pasta with tomato sauce and loved it, and enjoyed our crookneck squash. For lunch I let her suck on a pretzel (after removing the salt). Not sure this was such a good idea. Later when I was carrying her and my small bowl of pretzels, she grabbed on and put it directly into her mouth. In the past she would just hold the pretzel or put it up to her nose (a habit she does with many things). Tonight I think she’ll try broccoli and cauliflower with us and have some left over pasta (along with baby food).

There’s lots more to say, but I’ll stop here for now.

We’re having lots of fun with her, I just run out of energy and tend to go to bed (or at least fall asleep on the couch) soon after she does. I can’t believe that in 4 short months there will be two. 🙂
