Visiting Ryan O’Shannan Farms on Saturday afternoon was a lot of fun.  My mom, sister, Nichole (my almost sister-in-law), the girls, and I went to the farm after I got off work.  We got to see a cow close up (and pet her if we wanted) and two calves.  Amabella and Tiffany did the hay bail maze and climbed the hay pyramid.  We then had a great time towing a red wagon along to the pumpkin patch to pick the perfect pumpkins.  When Amabella would find one she liked, or one that someone would hand to her, she would toss it into the wagon.  Surprisingly none of the pumpkins split open.  Adeliza woke up from a nap as we were searching for pumpkins and she had a blast sitting in the wagon.  She gnawed on her little pumpkin and kept putting dirt and other things into her mouth.  As we searched on the less trodden path, we came across pumpkins with beetles all over them.  Amabella loved wiping the bugs off until she started squashing them with her hand and I put a stop to the touching of the bugs.  She enjoyed the worm we found underneath the big pumpkin for Auntie Tiff and Nichole.  We all had a great time and I love our pretty pumpkins around the house.  I also look forward to cooking pumpkin for the first time and making something out of it (not sure what yet: pie, soup, ice cream, …).  Next year maybe Amabella and Adeliza will want to go on the hay ride, make butter, watch the cow being milked, and see the calves being fed too.
