Avenue of the Giants
Friday we headed through the redwoods taking the Avenue of the Giants through the giant redwood trees. Of course I loved it because I have fond childhood memories of it.
We stopped at two drive thru trees. The first was in Myers Flat at the Shrine Drive Thru tree. The entire place was rather small, but there was a drive thru tree, tree house village, children’s walk thru tree, and more. The girls, and I, thought the little tree house village was adorable and would be so fun to play in all the time. 🙂
Next, we stopped at the Chandelier Tree. It had the drive thru tree as well as 200 acres of property that had grass, a pond, and picnic tables under trees for us to have lunch at. The pond had the most adorable tiny tan, brown, and green frogs. There were also red and purple dragonflies as well as bull frogs in the water.
Continuing on highway 1 toward our campground in Manchester was a long, nauseating drive. However, my favorite views of the day’s drive were the redwoods, ferns, and the winding Eel River.
Haydon Family Reunion, here we come!!! Can’t wait!
