Avalina’s Birthday Cupcakes
On Friday, the girls and I made cupcakes for Avalina’s party. They helped make the two cake mixes and had fun, as always when baking. Adeliza loves to get to crack the eggs and she’s getting pretty good at it. (We even chose 3 different color eggs to use since we had a dozen from a friend of Trevor’s grandparents.).
Then the girls helped mix up bright colored frosting. Avalina’s mixing time was shorter lived as she kept just eating spoonfuls of frosting.
The girls each had a cupcake, but only Amabella took the time to frost hers.
On Saturday, I frosted the cupcakes and got them ready for Sunday’s party. I put gum drop candies in a wavy plastic straw then put them into the side of the cupcake where I had prepunched a hole. The goal was for them to resemble colorful balloons. I was happy with how they turned out.
I left them on the table over night & hoped the girls wouldn’t bother them on Sunday morning. When I got up Sunday morning, I saw a chair pulled away from the table & quickly peeked at the cupcakes. I noticed two light finger impressions on one cupcake. I knew it was Adeliza. Later, she said, “Mommy, the cupcakes are dry this morning. I touched it with one finger, then two.” I love her honesty. :-). Later, I noticed a deeper imprint in one cupcake and I’m certain that was Avalina. She chose to have that cupcake at the party, so it wasn’t a big deal.
Today, we put the last of the frosting into baggies (as pastry bags) for the girls to decorate the cupcake I saved for each of them. Amabella spent a great deal of time on hers, but chose to wipe off most of the frosting before eating it.
