Colossians 3:1-14

Seek the heavenly
Slay the earthly

I need to talk to Amabella specifically about these things in Colossians 3, because she prayed with me last October. I also need to read that to her & reread it myself!

Verse this week:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.” (Colossians 3:12-14 NIV84)

Really v. 12-17 (I want us to memorize them all!)

List from Colossians 3:12-14
1. Compassion/Tender-hearted (consider others’ needs)
2. Kindness (think to ourselves, am I being kind)
*Arrogance & selfishness is the old man. Kindness & compassion is the new man.
3. Humility (I will risk & lay down myself for someone else.) (think correctly of ourselves)
4. Gentleness/Meekness (points to be direct & other times just to be gentle)
*They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
5. Patience/Long-Suffering (hang in there)
6. Bear with one another/Forbearance (put up with each other and recognize we are different. There should be NO irreconcilable differences, unless it’s not in line with scripture.)
7. Forgive One Another (the happiest people are forgivers. God has forgiven us so much!)
8. Love (it fixes everything. Everything needs to be done in love!)
